Background:

Anthony started in go-karts at the age of 8. He won the British junior karting championships in 1994 and 1995, and finished second in the European karting championships in 1996. He then went on to win several series in Formula Ford and Formula 3, and also won the most prestigious international races, such as the Formula Ford Festival and the F3 Spa and Pau races.

His Career Thus Far:
In some ways, Anthony started his Formula 1 career too soon, and on the wrong foot. He began as a test driver in 2001 at the BAR team, and stayed as a test driver until for the next six seasons. During that time he nevertheless had the opportunity to race in uncompetitive cars in three races, twice with Minardi in 2002, and once with the BAR Honda of 2005. He failed to finish each of these three races.

Anthony proved a valuable part of the Honda Formula 1 effort as he developed the car over the years. So when  Super Aguri decided to hire another good driver to join Takuma Sato, the team naturally turned to Anthony to drive for the 2007 season.

A British F1 Driver:

Anthony has had support from the British fans and media over the years, and in 2007 he finds himself as part of the largest group of British drivers in F1 since 1999. But as the British media and fans watch his progress closely, Anthony - who joins Lewis Hamilton,David Coulthard and Jenson Button as the other British drivers - will have the most difficult task as he races at the smallest team.

Character:
Anthony is an intelligent, articulate, bright personality who has stood up to six years as a test driver and come out as a regular driver in a situation that should otherwise have finished off any chances he had as a full time Formula 1 driver long ago. This attests to a strength of character that should serve him well in his first season of racing.
